Dear Readers, Winter season started, and the weather is with the combination of cold outside with dry indoor heat can wreak havoc on the hair strands, resulting in breakage and split ends. It happens with all types of hair in the winter season. If one wants to have a fabulous mane whole year must follow a few precautions.
1.Itchy and Flaky Scalp
Plaques of the skin cause itch and flakes and smother the scalp. Shampoo a little less and lighten up on the cleansing. Organic coconut oil is an excellent remedy for the itchy scalp as it is naturally extracted from mature coconuts.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid a saturated fat with antimicrobial properties. Lauric acid helps the skin to absorb coconut oil properly. Organic coconut oil is helpful for itchy scalp caused by eczema. It helps to combat head lice.
One 2010 study analyzed coconut oil healing power mixed with anise. As per researchers, this combination is more successful at delousing and eliminating scalp itch than permethrin, a medication helps to treat lice.
2.Lock in Extra Moisture with an Oil-based Moisturiser
Dry air is not good for any type of hair. To combat it moisturizer is necessary. Natural curly hair is very sensitive to cold climate when it’s prone to brittle texture, split ends and breakage.
Take olive oil 2 spoon and massage on the scalp gently. This helps to improve blood circulation and keep the scalp moisturized. It also helps to prevent hair fall.
3. Keep the Hair Hydrated
Weekly treatment is requiring moisturizing the hair which was lost due to dry air. Make conditioning a vital part of hair care. One in a week uses hair oil and deep conditioning packs to maintain hair health. It is a good habit to end wash with conditioner during the winter season.
Shampoo the hair and wash off and when all the lather has been rinsed out apply conditioner from the mid-lengths till the end of the hair. Apply properly on the ends as they are most damaged parts of the hair.
Leave on conditioner for few minutes then rinse it out with lukewarm or cool water. Ending hair wash with cool water will help to seal in the moisture and leave the hair smooth and lustrous.
4.To Combat Static Leave-in Conditioner
Floating strands is common during the winter season which is the key sign of dryness. Hydrate the hair with regular conditioner then lock it in with leave-in conditioner if the hair is too dry.
5.Control Frizz
The most annoying thing is static in the winter season. The hoodies scarves, sweater, gloves, and beanies all gang up on the hair. It makes the hair static, frizzy mess. To tackle this problem comb the hair with vented hair brush with the combination of plastic and boar bristles. Use only lukewarm water to wash the hair. Never use hot water as it makes the hair drier by stripping away the natural oils.
6.Shine and Bounce in Hair
The lack of moisture in winter dries out the scalp and makes the hair frizzy. Hair becomes dry and lifeless. Brush the hair with a wide toothed wooden comb to remove tangles and apply raw honey gently from roots to tips. Cover the hair with shower cap and leave on for 25 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and dry the hair with a clean towel. Honey is a humectant that seals the moisture in hair and helps to restore shine and bounce to damaged and dull hair.

7.Dry the Hair in Proper Way
Drying hair completely is really painful for ladies, especially if she is blessed with long and thick hair. Never put the hair up while it is damp as it attracts breakage, dandruff and split ends. Never rub the hair with a towel as the friction can cause damage.
The best way to dry the hair is gently squeezed the excess moisture out with help of a towel. Use the blow dryer on the cool setting as hot air setting makes the hair dry and lifeless. If you are using hot air setting to speed things up ensure that dryer must be 15 centimeters away from the hair. Never go out with damp hair.
8.Line the Winter Hat with Satin or Silk to Prevent Split Ends
Wool, cotton and other coarse fabrics cause breakage and split ends. Always line the wool, acrylic, and cotton hats with satin or silk to prevent split ends.
Simply trim off the split ends weekly. Use sharp hair shears, leaving a lean cut to avoid immediately begin to fray again. Be gentle when you wash, brush, detangle, style and touch the hair to slow down the split ends growth. Avoid heat tools as they are the main reason for split ends.
9.Hydrate Hair with Serum or Oil Overnight
Dry air night time leeches moisture from the skin. To avoid creating a mess on pillow case cover the pillow with a clean cotton cloth or use an old pillow for hydration night. Apply oil on scalp and massage gently for 10 minutes. Leave on overnight wash off the morning with lukewarm water. It prevents dandruff, dry hair, scalp irritation, itching, and hair fall.
10. Eat Balanced Diet and exercise in Winter to Stay Hydrated
Eat a healthy diet full of vitamins to keep the scalp and hair healthy. To keep the scalp and hair hydrated you must drink plenty of water. Little extra care brings a big difference.
People look healthier and active during summer due to spending time outdoors absorbing vitamin D. Because of the heat we drink lot more water and when season change we move into hibernation mode. Stagnation and sitting are not good for the body.
In winter season keep up the level of exercise it makes you feel great. It also helps to remove the toxin from the system and gives the body overall health. Take 8 to 12 glasses of water per day at any temperature. Never take bath with hot water use always lukewarm water to stay hydrated.

During the winter season, scalp become drier and that can lead to dandruff and scalp irritation – consequently the worst scenario lead to hair fall.
In winter, we should always try to moisturize our scalp in order to prevent from hair fall.
Generally, I use coconut or olive oil on my scalp and then I prefer to rinse it our with shampoo or conditioner.
