Packed and processed foods contain it as it keeps food fresh and tasty.
Hence it is not a single product but the whole food processing industry depends on MSG to maintain foods freshness till it reaches the consumer. Experts said, during processing lead can’t be added as lead usually found in water that is used to make the food.
Experts and Doctors States about Maggi Noodles
Senior neurologist Dr. S Chandrashekhar said, the results are inclusive hence, whole lead poisoning damage over decades so can’t be detected immediately. So far there is no confirmed report of poisoning due to any types of noodles consumed by people.
All experts state that Noodle instant processed foods like soups, ready to eat foods like kabab, meat, frozen foods and chicken rolls have a small amount of MSG.
Dr. Sunitha Premlata said, processed foods become a comfort food and should not have every day. Due to this, there is a rising problem of bloating, obesity and water retention.
General physician Dr. Abdul Hasan Ashraf said, tangy taste mix comes with noodles which have become over a years a hot favorite. Children eat this In good quantity and get addicted to it, which pleases mothers who face problem in feeding their child.
Maggi Noodles Banned in States
Tuesday 02 June found Maggi unsafe for consumption in Delhi and the government plans to initiate the case against Nestle. Kerala government issued an order to stop temporarily Maggi distribution from its state-owned retail shops. 20,000 bakeries in the state will stop selling noodles.
The Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand governments banned Nestle’s instant noodles sale for three months. While in Gujarat the ban will be for one month. Some samples of the foods had failed the lab tests, officials said in Chennai, Gandhi Nagar and Dehradoon. In Jammu and Kashmir, noodles got banned for one month.
The four states also called noodle manufacturers and ordered Nestle India to withdraw the stocks immediately. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are awaiting tests results of samples. Yesterday (Wednesday) Delhi had banned noodles sales for 15 days.
Gujarat government also tested Sunfeast and S K foods and has banned the latter for one month. They found 4 PPM high lead content in it.
Gujarat Health Minister Nitin Patel said while giving lab test report of Maggi noodles, Monosodium glutamate found in all samples tested. Because of this reason, Government has banned sale and distribution of Maggi Noodles for one month.
Jammu and Kashmir in an order said all the District Magistrates ordered to complete ban on the sale of Maggi noodles.
The restrictions will remain in force until test report of sampling conduct by the concerned government department/ agency is received. 300 samples sent to the laboratory of Rudrapur, still test result of a majority is awaited.
Kerala government has brought more processed food products of other so many different brands also under the scanner. A random sample of different brands has collected and sent for tests, an Official in the state food safety commissioner office said.
