Having lived in Manhattan in NYC for a few decades, I know first-hand the negative effects of the environment, especially in the heat of the summer when the buildings keep the humidity and toxins hanging in the air. Fortunately, I often got out of the city, going to the beaches in the summer and skiing up north in the winter. Both of those environments provided healthier air and a sense of openness and freedom and a return to nature.
Living in Florida, near the ocean, the air is quite good but I have to always use some light suntan lotion on my face particularly. I love aloe vera and buy live aloe vera leaves – so cooling and refreshing. I keep learning about household and cosmetic toxins and slowly started adjusting what I use each day.
